NBC News app is updated now and the team has doubled the video start on the top of the screen with the view to increase its loyal users and the customer base. If you are new to NBC News, then you must update your app and check the latest features and video clips related to the latest news.
NBC Activate Universal is now introducing the video clips in the front and in the center on its NBC News mobile app with the intention of increasing the monthly video start to 8 million which is almost double of present and to increase the loyal users.
A New version of App is launched now online replaced with the Heavy newsfeed design of the previous version. You will find the video clips automatically running on the top of the screen without any sound. This will effectively increase the chances of being watched by the viewers.
Apart from doubling the video starts, The NBC News app is also trying to grow the loyal users. Loyal users here means all those users who open the app at least 12 times per month. Such users have now increased to 40 percent.
This news app will also promote and advertise the programs from its sibling brands like MSNBC and Today Show. Though the people are not getting much encouraged with the new app as they don’t find any new deal existing in it.
Nick Acheim, SVP at NBC News said, it has now become possible to download all the content from a single app instead of downloading from multiple platforms. He also said that we are justifying our app portfolio to the public as much as possible.
Like other news publishers, NBC News app users are small in number but are properly active when it comes to watching video content. On an average, more than 20 million visits are reported per month on NBC Com Activate news app and the average watch time per video on the app is 6 minutes which is longer than the time on NBC News mobile websites. This has been revealed by Moritz Gimbel, VP of NBC Universal for digital news properties.
The growing loyalty and video consumption are creating a higher end experience by clearing out display ads from app’s home page.
Except at some situations where text story is more convenient, the app’s lead story will be converted to the video clip. A separate tab called ‘Watch’ is now introduced in the app from where you can watch the video clips of famous shows like ‘NBC Nightly News’, AM Joy’ and ‘Today’. Earlier this was available on the home page. The top clip started playing as users pass through them.
Earlier the app videos do not play automatically but now when the selected video ends, the next one will start playing automatically. This design is borrowed from other rival apps including Facebook.
The clips are constructed and pre-roll ads. Some videos are of long length you can say of 20 minutes, so such videos are diminished to a quarter of its original time said Ascheim. Moreover, this app will allow users to watch live programming using cable TV login credentials. From Now, users can now watch the content from MSNBC through radio player Tuneln.
NBCU is currently promoting the app in Apple’s App store and on social platforms like Facebook and Twitter. This tactic is used to relaunch its ‘Today’ show app for the loyal audience. An Air promotional campaign has doubled the viewership of ‘Today’ show app.
